Every time my boyfriend and I come here on a date it is always delicious!! I would highly recommend going early because they are always busy which is a good thing, you know it's good! The atmosphere is very lively and family friendly perfect for a date or just a night out with friends or family. We will be back again soon!

For the ayce this place is pretty good. Expect a wait and remember to join the waitlist. Inside is spacious, though its rare to get a booth seating with a party of two. It's nicely lit and service is attentive and fast (korean speaking I think). I like how they had a menu with pictures to show what foods are offered and our rounds were very accurate and came at acceptable times together. No rush with the time limit either and not too strict. Rather casual. The rundown was fast and we were able to get to ordering quick. Carpaccio-- skip the seared ones as they tend to be overcooked. I really liked the albacore as it wasn't as fatty. It's pretty much sashimi with toppings the sauce isn't too strong Nigiri- medium rice ratio, the rice is quite vinegared. Surprisingly the seared tuna was done well, its kind if hit or miss because if they Overcook it slightly it's too dry, but if cooked perfectly the fish is really fresh. Overall, i could taste the fresh quality of the fish, like the salmon was fatty. My favorite was the jalapeño yellowtail. Seasoning wise there wasn't any nigiri that stood out. The seaweed salad was really good and a nice refresher. The cucumber salad is small squeezed pickles that are sweet, so I'd recommend it if you like pickled ginger palate cleansers. I really enjoyed munching on edamame as a break, the spicy garlic one is a little oily/savoury but not too spicy. They were a little stingy with napkins. The salmon kama was bigger than I expected, but beautifully cooked fatty salmon and a great option for those that don't eat raw fish but still want their Worth. There was a big chunk of meat on the bone. The spicy tuna crispy rice was also bigger than expected ( i wish they did half portions), but it was yummy and not too mercury tasting, the flavors paired well. The miso soup is a bit on the heavy processed side. Overall, I found this place to have good quality fish, go for fresher vs seared options with fast service. Just note a bit of a wait is common.

Got here on a Tuesday just before they opened. Note* you should go inside to put your name on the electronic Yelp waitlist tablet inside, before the restaurant opens. We got seated and got service right away. We did the AYCE which was so worth the price! I only have one pic featured because we were too hungry to take pictures. Everything was good except the stuffed jalapeños and the crispy rice cakes. For some reason, we didn't care for them as the rice cakes had a funky texture to them. The rice cakes weren't super crunchy so it was a bit chewy. All-in-all this place was pretty good! We'll definitely be returning and not ordering the stuffed jalapenos and the crispy rice cake

The best AYCE sushi in Irvine!! Tomikawa, in my opinion, has the freshest fish for an ayce sushi spot. Typically, for anything AYCE the quality tends to not be the best but everytime I've eaten here, nothing but the freshest. The service wasnt bad but you cant expect much from a busy AYCE restaurant. We ended waiting 1 1/2hrs. Its a pretty decent sized space with plenty of tables, but they fill up fast!

Came here for happy hour on a Friday night and had a great experience! From the happy hour menu we ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna, heart attack roll, crunch roll, & tempura roll. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box from the regular menu and it was a very impressive amount of food including gyozas, edamame, sesame chicken, miso soup, & salad. We waited about 15min for a table and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nice atmosphere, easy parking lot, and quality sushi. Will be back!!

Went back here for dine in and the wait was 1 hr 45 which we passed by visiting kohls in the same plaza. It's definitely not worth that long of a wait but their food is yummy. Their bento is decent but I might pass on it next time. Wait for food once you get seated also takes a while. The food also doesn't come out in the right order because our appetizer came after our rolls and the bento came last. It should have come at the same time as the rolls. Takoyaki is good! But strangely not hot, only mildly warm. Would now rate this a 3.5.

They have quality sushi, baked mussels ( not in photo ) cucumber salads , ( yuzu , salmon , albacore, yellowtail, shrimp ) . This was my son's first time and he was just as impressed as we were . Love the service everyone is always friendly and they have a good seating system. They do get busy and sometimes there is a bit of a wait. Get your sushi on !!!

Great quality fish and AYCE? Count me in! This was my first time at Tomikawa after hearing so much about it. There will likely be a queue so make sure to plan ahead and add your name to the waitlist early or go during non-peak hours. The AYCE menu is a limited version of the normal dinner menu but still had a ton of options to choose from ranging from cold/hot appetizers, nigiri, and full sushi rolls. My favorite thing here is the Alaskan Roll. The baked salmon literally melts in your mouth. A must if you love salmon sushi. A few other notable items are the takoyaki, ultimate salmon roll, spicy tuna crispy rice, and any of the nigiri. The nigiri rice here is well-seasoned and I actually really enjoyed eating the rice here. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and modern and the staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend coming with an appetite!
